    Fri 21 Dec 2018

Well, what an amazing half-term!  It has flown by, in a whirl of electricity, shadows, light, the Highwayman, a Midsummer Night's dream and , of course, Christmas!

The children have worked really hard, again, to learn lots of interesting facts.  We are proud of how well they have approached everything we have done.  They are really applying their values to their learning.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you all again in January, when we will find out 'Are you a Brazil nut?'

  • Giacometti inspired Iron Man creations

    Thu 20 Dec 2018

As we complete our lower school topic of 'Do opposites really attract?' where we have been looking at metals and magnets (and reading The Iron Man) we completed the last piece of work today by looking at the humanoid sculptures Giacometti created and then re-created them using pipe cleaners and tin foil.

After learning how to twist three pipe cleaners together to form a human shape, the children had to wrap foil around the skeletons to complete their design and discovered it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be!

The extra challenge that was set towards the end of the lesson was to try and get their sculptures to stand on their own. Well done to those children who managed to get a free standing model.

  • Programming by pupils

    Sun 16 Dec 2018
Well done to these three pupils who, over the past term, have learnt computational thinking, begun to create programs using an online editor, and then applied their learning to make robots change direction when they are close to an object, make robots follow a line, and finally learn how to program a drone to reach a specific target. They had a great time.
