A Magical Beginning
"There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other" -J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
What an amazing start to the school year we have had. Two wonderful weeks of the whole school coming together and sharing our current value of unity as we invited the children into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
After receiving their letters of invitation through the post at the end of August, what would our new Year3 pupils discover on their first day at Porchester? Who would have guessed at an assortment of Professors to teach them in rooms that varied from Eeylops Owl Emporium, to Borgin and Burkes.

A maroon Hogwarts Express sat at Platform 9 3/4 in the old hall, whilst floating candles decorated the new hall as the children put on the sorting hat and it sorted them into their 'house'. And yes, it actually spoke to them deciding whether to put them in Vickers, Griffin, Abell or Wright (the names of the first four Headteachers of Porchester).
Lessons over the past fortnight have included wand making, learning about their own Patronus, potions and creating their own house shields, and, thanks to the generosity of parents and staff, some amazing objects have been on display in the school for the children to view.
A truly magical start to the year, and who knows whether there is more to come...
