Our Summer Term enquiry question is...

Through our History driver, we will be learning  about the Anglo-Saxon and Viking period in British history. We will explore how invasions changed Britain and discover the lasting impact these groups had on our country, such as place names we still use today.

Take a look at our knowledge organiser:

We will be reading Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo which presents a thrilling tale of heroism, where the valiant warrior Beowulf confronts formidable foes, including the monstrous Grendel and a fearsome dragon, in a story rich with themes of bravery and fate.

In this captivating adaptation, Morpurgo brings to life the ancient epic of "Beowulf," set in the Viking lands of Denmark during the fifth century. The story begins with King Hrothgar, who builds a grand mead hall called Heorot, only to have it terrorised by Grendel, a monstrous creature that preys on his warriors. Hearing of Hrothgar's plight, the young Geatish hero Beowulf sails to Denmark with a group of men, eager to prove his strength and bravery by defeating Grendel.
