Our Spring Term enquiry question is...

Through our Geography and PSHE drivers, we will be learning about developed and developing countries across the world. We will explore global similarities and differences, question why some countries are historically considered developing, and understand the impact this has on people, including refugees and world trade. We will also examine themes of inequality through art by studying artists such as Banksy and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Take a look at our knowledge organiser:

We will be reading The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf, a powerful and thought-provoking story told through the eyes of a young girl who befriends a quiet new boy in her class. The novel explores themes of friendship, kindness and courage as the children begin to question fairness and learn the importance of standing up for others.

In this moving story, the children discover that the boy at the back of the class is a refugee who has fled his home due to war. As they learn more about his experiences, they become determined to help him feel safe and welcome. The book encourages empathy and understanding while helping children explore real-world issues such as refugees, inequality and hope.
