October 30, 2018: Class 3 visit Ancient Egypt
What a half term we have had exploring Ancient Egypt in Class 3! Our weekly questions have taken us on quite a learning journey... First of all, we used atlases and the internet to research where Egypt is located and why the River Nile was so important to ancient Egyptians. We then investigated how artefacts can tell stories about the past. We had the chance to handle artefacts during our visit from Partake and we used the Rosetta Stone to translate messages into hieroglyphics. We considered how every day life would have been different to our lives now and acted out a day in the life of an ancient scribe using the 'now press play' headphones. We also mummified tomatoes, designed pyramids with hidden chambers, made death masks and used clay to sculpt canopic jars! Our topic work has led to some exceptional pieces of writing, including recounts from Howard Carter's perspective when he discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun, Pharaoh job descriptions and Egyptian Cinderella stories. We were even lucky enough to receive top tips for editing our work from our author in focus, Emma Carroll!

March 13, 2018: World Book Day
Despite the snowy weather, we celebrated WBD, just a week later! The children looked amazing and made a fantastic Shelfie with items bought in from home to decorate it. I m sure you will agree that our book shelf has never looked so good! Well done class 4

February 9, 2018: Reading legend!
J has worked amazingly hard on his reading! As a reward he is taking home one of our fabulous picture books! #pride

January 21, 2018: Amazing Space Poetry
Class 6 have produced some phenomenal Space poetry this week. Their imagination and creativity really shone through their writing. Well done all of you.

January 19, 2018: Invasion!
After preparing their shields earlier in the week, the Roman soldiers in classes 1, 3 and 7 met in the hall on Thursday for their final instructions before they then marched off towards the Barbarian Celtic tribes in classes 4, 5 and 6. When attack horns were blown, the children stormed into the tribal areas, removed the local Chieftan, and forced the Celts to become Roman. Once the locals had agreed to a new way of life, the soldiers withdrew and began to write diaries recording their magnificent victory. Here are just two of the diaries from some of the Roman soldiers.

November 22, 2017: Story Mapping
In our English today we were looking at the story of 'The Quest' and creating a story map of the key points in the tale. Instead of drawing each part of the story we thought we'd use emoji.

November 21, 2017: Acting an Emotion
Class7 were acting out scenes from "The Quest" as part of their English work. We froze them at certain parts and asked them what emotion they were showing.

October 23, 2017: The Stone Age Rocks!
What a fantastic half term we've had exploring the Stone Age! Class 3 have been very busy digging for evidence, researching animals of the Stone Age, designing our very own cave paintings, producing rock databases, building Stonehenge out of biscuits, as well as creating sunset silhouette art work. With a little help from Ug, Om and The Stone Age Boy, we've also written some fabulous setting descriptions, instructions on how to catch a prehistoric beast and diary entries sharing how much we hate wearing stone trousers! We finished our topic by reflecting on everything we've learnt and working collaboratively to produce a whole class Stone Age fact file.

September 24, 2017: Stone Age Safari
"The animals are ready, are you?" Come and join class 7 on a Stone Age Safari. Grab one of their amazing Safari guides full of information about where you might see a Woolly Mammoth, a wolf or a Sabre toothed cat along with information about those animals. And if you get hungry, they've even thought about guiding you to a Stone Age cafรฉ for refreshing herbs, berries and nuts.

September 17, 2017: What a week
I have just finished marking class 7's books after their first full week, and I am amazed by the brilliant work ALL the children have done. Class 7 you really do rock and, if you can keep this standard up all year, you are going to be awesome ๐Ÿ‘ Here is just a small sample of what has been produced;
