Giacometti inspired Iron Man creations

As we complete our lower school topic of 'Do opposites really attract?' where we have been looking at metals and magnets (and reading The Iron Man) we completed the last piece of work today by looking at the humanoid sculptures Giacometti created and then re-created them using pipe cleaners and tin foil.

After learning how to twist three pipe cleaners together to form a human shape, the children had to wrap foil around the skeletons to complete their design and discovered it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be!

The extra challenge that was set towards the end of the lesson was to try and get their sculptures to stand on their own. Well done to those children who managed to get a free standing model. Photo 20-12-2018 12 03 58
