April 29, 2016: Eco club
Members of our eco club harvested our stock of purple sprouting broccoli, Russian kale and chives this morning. Mr Merrill and Mrs Woodfield, our school chefs, expertly turned the vegetables into a delicious pasta dish which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children.

March 7, 2016: Little Princess Trust fundraising
Freya in Year 3 is raising money for the Little Princess Trust. On 2nd April she will be having her lovely blonde locks cut off and will be donating her hair to be made into a wig for children who have lost their hair due to illness. The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment. http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/ If you would like to donate to this very worthwhile cause please send in your donation in a sealed envelope marked ‘Little Princess Trust’. Alternatively you can donate online at www.justgiving.com/freyasbighaircut

December 4, 2015: Achievement Assembly
Congratulations to all pupils who received an award this week.

November 12, 2015: Remembrance day
All children made and planted peace poppies as part of our Remembrance Day ceremony. Mr Martwich, our school caretaker, looked very smart in his military uniform and splendid array of medals. Mr Martwich served in the paratroopers for 35 years before seeing the light and coming to work at Porchester. :-)

November 1, 2015: Do you have an attitude of gratitude?
Our new value this half term is APPRECIATION. Mr Cullen will be starting this off with a thought provoking assembly on the importance of gratitude. A wonderful and fun activity to do is to keep a gratitude list which is simply making a daily list of all the things for which we are grateful. Get a notebook or open a computer file to begin keeping track of the many experiences of joy and gratitude you experience in the day. This can include things we often take for granted such as clean running water, hot shower, soap, a warm bed, food in your fridge, a washing machine etc etc.

October 24, 2015: Award for resilience
What a great way to end this half term. This award was given to a year 3 for showing great resilience ! Well done to everyone for working so well with our our values this term. Posted with Blogsy

October 19, 2015: Resilience (bouncebackability) tags
Today we have explored how we are resilient. What do we do when things get tough? How do we learn new things? What do we do when we feel like giving up? The children made some amazing tags sharing how they were resilient in the past. We made a resilience trellis in the quiet area to encourage others to be resilient. We can and we will Posted with Blogsy

September 26, 2015: Year five and six learn how to stay safe at safety zone
Safety zone was an amazing trip, we were able to learn valuable lessons to keep ourselves safe. A big thank you to all the organisations involved and a huge thank you to all the children who went, you were superb ambassadors for Porchester. Posted with Blogsy

September 3, 2015: The value of friendship
Mr Cullen, with a glamourous assistant, introduced our first value in assembly this morning. It was friendship, this afternoon we looked at the qualities needed for friendship. We made friendship quotes and friendship recipes for our values tree. What does friendship mean to you? " True friendship is like sound health, the value of it is seldom known until it is lost." C C Colton " A true friend knows your strengths, feels your fears but fortifies your faith, sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognises your disabilities but emphasises your possibilities." William Arthur Ward "Friends are born, not made" Henry Adams "We'll be friends forever won't we Pooh? Asked Piglet. Even longer, Pooh answered." A A Milne Have a look at the superb friendship recipes and quotes the children made about friendship. The Value Of Friendship from Porchester Junior on Vimeo. Posted with Blogsy
