February 12, 2018: Living Like A Roman
Class 7 had a great time on Friday when we had a whole day learning about what it would be like to be Roman. The children learnt how to march like Roman soldiers, how to carry shields in the famous "testudo" formation, tried Roman foods (the fish sauce was an acquired taste), played Roman games, learnt about some Roman objects and finally dressed like a Roman. Thank you to Partake. It was a brilliant day.

February 7, 2018: Meet the Mayor
Our Porchester Parliament members felt very privileged this morning during their visit to meet the Mayor in the council chambers. We learnt lots about what is involved in being a Mayor and we debated the topic of litter and recycling. We've come away with lots of ideas about how we can make an impact in our local community and further afield - watch this space...

The activities included a game of Pétanque, Cubist art inspired by Fernand Leger, learning and singing the French song 'Savez vous planter les choux', asking for sandwich ingredients in French, creating their version of the Eiffel Tower and learning traditional French dances. Here are a few videos and photos from the day. Thank you to our PTA for helping towards funding this fabulous day. Class 3 from Porchester Class 7 on Vimeo. July 17, 2015: Ancient Egyptian Day
Today, lower school had an Egyptian day. We had a fantastic day learning more about the Ancient Egyptians. We were lucky enough to have Partake come in to do some drama with us, based on the mummification ritual. They also demonstrated how people would have dressed in Ancient Egyptians times and the reasoning behind each thing. Within our classes we also made Egyptian collars and cartouche necklaces. It has been a very busy and exciting day. Take a look at our video to see some of the moments from the day. Ancient Egyptian Day from Porchester Junior on Vimeo. Posted with Blogsy
