November 22, 2017: Story Mapping
In our English today we were looking at the story of 'The Quest' and creating a story map of the key points in the tale. Instead of drawing each part of the story we thought we'd use emoji.

November 21, 2017: Acting an Emotion
Class7 were acting out scenes from "The Quest" as part of their English work. We froze them at certain parts and asked them what emotion they were showing.

October 23, 2017: The Stone Age Rocks!
What a fantastic half term we've had exploring the Stone Age! Class 3 have been very busy digging for evidence, researching animals of the Stone Age, designing our very own cave paintings, producing rock databases, building Stonehenge out of biscuits, as well as creating sunset silhouette art work. With a little help from Ug, Om and The Stone Age Boy, we've also written some fabulous setting descriptions, instructions on how to catch a prehistoric beast and diary entries sharing how much we hate wearing stone trousers! We finished our topic by reflecting on everything we've learnt and working collaboratively to produce a whole class Stone Age fact file.

September 24, 2017: Stone Age Safari
"The animals are ready, are you?" Come and join class 7 on a Stone Age Safari. Grab one of their amazing Safari guides full of information about where you might see a Woolly Mammoth, a wolf or a Sabre toothed cat along with information about those animals. And if you get hungry, they've even thought about guiding you to a Stone Age café for refreshing herbs, berries and nuts.

September 17, 2017: What a week
I have just finished marking class 7's books after their first full week, and I am amazed by the brilliant work ALL the children have done. Class 7 you really do rock and, if you can keep this standard up all year, you are going to be awesome 👍 Here is just a small sample of what has been produced;

July 11, 2017: Odysseus and Penelope
Last week class7 were looking at the painting 'Penelope with the Suitors", and producing some artwork based on the painting. In addition to the artwork, they also learnt about the character Penelope and her husband Odysseus. They discovered that Odysseus had been fighting in the Trojan war, and was trying to get back home but had been delayed by the actions of the Greek Gods. The class created postcards from Odysseus to Penelope explaining the delay in returning, and also one of the children took on the role of Zeus and explained why the Gods were trying to stop Odysseus.

June 17, 2017: English Research Booklets
In our English lessons this week we have been looking at how to take notes from a range of sources, and then produce our own detailed information texts. Everyone in class has produced amazing detailed booklets - including a content page and a glossary - like the example shown below.

March 29, 2017: Our Limericks
This week we've been trying to make our own limericks. It's not as easy as we thought it would be because we needed to think about how many syllables are on each line, which words could rhyme with other words and also try to keep to a rhythm throughout the whole limerick. Kiya-Mae worked on a limerick about an old man and created this; There once was a very old man, Who lived in a terrible van. The metal got rusty, And then very dusty, Which gave him a terrible tan! Omari created one about a young girl; There once was a very young girl, Whose hair she always did curl. She thought it looked nice, But was covered in lice, Which made everyone else want to hurl! And the whole class worked together to create one about a young boy; There once was a very young boy, All he liked to do was destroy. He broke his own boat, And the TV remote, Until he had run out of toys.

March 24, 2017: Class 7 Haiku's

March 23, 2017: Storm Tanka
We're learning about Tanka style poems in our English lesson today, and we have worked together as a class to create our first attempt at one. Here's Class 7's "Storm Tanka"; Sky turning dark black, Clouds start rolling in quickly, Stillness all around, Suddenly rain hammers down, Thunder and lightning begins.
