Comparing hardness of materials
Class 6 have been thinking about hard types of materials. They talked about what to make a board game base out of and chose cardboard in the end because (1) it can fold and take up less space, and (2) it isn't damaged when the pieces rub along it.
That made us think about how to test the hardness of materials. We thought about doing a rub test. Laura rubbed her finger backwards and forwards on some paper and soon she had made a hole. Why was this? Leah said "her finger was harder than the paper"
We wondered what would happen if a diamond was put against some glass. Keava said the diamonds would scratch the glass, and that made Luke ask a question...
"What is harder than a diamond?"
Brilliant question - and a great piece of homework. Can class 6 find out if anything is harder than a diamond and leave a comment below? Housepoints are on offer to those who find an answer..

I think a bone is harder than a diamond to.
