Handling Data

Today in maths we were trying to answer the question "What did you do during the holidays?"

First of all, everyone in class said what they had done, but we found that hard to remember, so we decided to write it all down on the board;

Question 1
This was still confusing and the children said "I can't read it", and "The writing goes over other writing" and "There are lots the same". So we decided to put these answers into groups, and try again;

Question 2
Now it was much easier to see what was the most popular activity during the holidays, and from this Olivia said we could make a chart - so we did!

Question 3
Now it was much easier to see how popular each group was. Tomorrow we're going to use an etherpad to discuss each idea and see what was good / bad about each one. (I'll tell you the password to use it in the maths lesson)
