November 23, 2007: A Star is born
Congratulations to Sophie, in class 6, who is busy at the moment dancing in the New English Contemporary Ballet's new version of The Nutcracker. As it says on their website; As part of our autumn programme New English Contemporary Ballet will stage a new version of the much-loved festive ballet The Nutcracker. Our professional dancers will be supported by members of our Associates and Nottingham Youth Dance programmes. 150 young performers, all of whom attend schools from across the East Midlands, will have the opportunity to work on the creation and production of an entire ballet, then to appear as members of the cast in supporting roles to the dancers of the company. November 20, 2007: Fact or Opinion?
In this weeks literacy we have been looking at how to write a piece of factual writing, and also how to write an opinion. Ashley wrote an account of what Sarah thought after rescuing a toddler from a canal; Matthew, Mitchell, Morgan and Callum all worked with Mrs. Ingle to record their version. Listen to how it sounds. November 20, 2007: Accessing the wiki
The Porchester Pupil Wiki is now active. Accounts have been set up for every child in school. To access the Wiki you will need to use your username (this is similar to your network logon), and password. To obtain your username and password, please see your class teacher, or ask Mr. Widdowson. Mr. Widdowson will be monitoring the wiki closely, and may well be giving out house points to pupils who start to add outstanding content... Important information for your parents about the Wiki can be found here.

November 20, 2007: The Wiki is ready
The Porchester Pupil Wiki is now active. Accounts have been set up for every child in school. Important details for pupils can be found here. Parents: the wiki is a "private" space on the internet. Only invited people - ie staff and students - are able to add content to the wiki. Guests are able to view the wiki, providing the pupils with an important audience for their work, but guests cannot post, comment, or contact invited users. The wiki also logs work that is added to and removed from the pages, so any unsuitable material that is posted can be traced back to the registered poster. We take the safety and well being of the pupils very seriously, and will regularly monitor the wiki.
