A social experiment...

Class 6 are trying out a new idea at the moment - sending 'Tweets' using Twitter telling the world what they have been doing in their lessons from @porchester_kids.

The idea is that the children will take it in turns to write (in 140 characters or less) just what they have been doing during the day. Their first 'tweet' was posted earlier today after a DT lesson;

As you can see, there is no name given with the 'tweet' - so children cannot be identified, and no images are sent with the 'tweet' either. We're hoping that the children really like telling the world what they have been doing, and that other classes in school want to join in and explain their lessons in 140 characters too. It could even eventually be used by staff to report instant updates during school trips / sporting events / residential trips / etc

Class 4 Science Microbes!

Class 4 have been creating their own microbes out of plasticine in their science lessons. Watch the video of their creations...

Update available

Our trailblazing iPhone app has had a major update, and this update is available now. If you've already got the app on your iPhone / iPod Touch then you should see the update available within the appstore icon. The new update fixes a bug in earlier versions, and also includes much more detail that parents / carers and friends of the school, as well as members of the local community, will find useful.

If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch, and you haven't yet downloaded the FREE Porchester app, now is a good time to get it through the iTunes App Store.

We've been wordling...

Notes for your homework

As we had a *little* bit of trouble with the internet this afternoon, and had some trouble logging into Online Tools, you will need to complete the history work at home this weekend.

Here are the notes we made on the board about D-Day;

Dunkirk - D-Day - 5 beaches (Gold / Sword / Juno / Omaha / Utah) - 6th June 1944 - 5,000 boats - 175,000 soldiers dropped by parachute - 195,000 soldiers on boats - Weather was cloudy - almost abandoned - drove the German Army back from France.

You can log into Online Tools at home, choose "2Publish Extra" select a newspaper template, and write a news report about D-Day. You could use Word, or Publisher, or Open Office if you preferred. Save your work (and export it from Online Tools), put it into your learning space and then leave a comment letting me know.
