Yesterday we went to the Serengeti park with the teachers from Bunda School, and 5 pupils also from the school - both teachers and pupils have never been to the Serengeti even though they only live 15 minutes away from the park.
What a wonderful day we had, as soon as we passed through the gates we saw baboons, and within 10 minutes we saw zebra, wildebeest, ostrich, giraffe and warthogs. Later we passed buffalo but as they are so dangerous we couldn't stop, and so we carried on to a waterhole where we saw hippo and crocodile. As we drove further we saw a herd of up to 100 elephants.
As the heat was unbearable and we were so squashed (there were 14 people in a car meant for 10) we broke for lunch. In the afternoon we went hunting for lions, but during the search we came across a chain bridge that we decided to cross even though there was a crocodile waiting to catch us if we fell - he hadn't had his lunch!
We didn't think we would be able to see a lion but then we spotted some vultures in trees, and they always follow lions about as they feed on their left overs, so we thought they must be near. Theressa then spotted a dead deer that had been hidden in some undergrowth,so we knew we were getting closer - then in the distance sitting under a tree we spotted a male lion, we were so excited and so were the children and teachers as they had never seen one!
We went back to the hotel, and to bed, exhausted (we had travelled over 100 miles) but exhilarated!
