Mathilda, in class 4, writes a recount of her adventure so far within Myst;
"I arrived on the island.
Straight to my right, I saw a wooden boat that had sunk, I then realised that I was on a dock. I looked further ahead and saw a giant cog at the top of some stone steps. I carried on exploring and found lots of other unusual places.
I found a torn note on the floor outside the ancient library and read it. This left me wondering, why am I here? How did I get to this strange place? Will I ever get back?
I felt scared, although I wanted to carry on. It was almost as if I needed to explore some more.
I discovered many other things. I found clues that helped me on my way, I found dates, numbers, and times. I discovered that inside the old library, was a picture, I pressed the picture and some steps appeared. I went up the steps and discovered lots more, weird things.
I discovered "tower rotation". I rotated buildings and found keys, keys to help me on my quest. On the keys, were a time, 2:40 and numbers, 2, 2, 1. What were they for? What would happen if I somehow used them?
I wandered deeper and deeper into a dark wood, and found that at the end was a clock tower. On the clock’s ticking face, was the time, twelve O’clock? What could this mean? Why was this like this?
I managed to make steps, pathways and secret passages appear, just by simply pressing a button. The buttons, they are no ordinary buttons, they are marker switches. They make magical and mysterious things happen.
I turned steel cogs, flicked switches, twisted stone handles and pulled levers. I discovered an old, torn book.
I placed my hand on the book…."
